Hanging Around, Charcoal Drawing, 2024

24X18 inches, Charcoal

Hanging Around uses suspended ropes as a metaphor for memory and identity. Some ropes appear rough, tangled, or tense, while others fall smoothly and quietly, reflecting the different emotional weight carried by past experiences. Although each strand hangs separately, all emerge from the same structure and form a single composition. The arrangement suggests that identity is not shaped by one defining moment, but by accumulated experiences uneven, unresolved, distant, or comforting that remain present over time. The ropes become traces of memory that continue to shape an evolving sense of self.
