6X7x11 inches, Snow globe, air-dry clay, wire, acrylic paint, matte vanish, plastic pieces
“Within” visualizes the possibility of plastic exposure beginning before birth. A snow globe becomes a contained prenatal environment, with amniotic fluid full of suspended plastic fragments surrounding a developing fetus. The familiar snow globe, normally associated with protection and wonder, instead becomes an enclosed space that cannot remain isolated from environmental contamination. By placing plastic within this fragile environment, the work emphasizes the vulnerability of fetal development and challenges the assumption that plastic pollution exists only outside the human body.
